Hi friends!! I'm strongly considering getting All About Reading (pre-reading program) for our active son. Wondering if anyone has experience with All About Reading or All About Spelling? Thanks!
All About Spelling has been very successful for my kids--it really turned things around for them. I've often wished that All About Reading had been around when they were learning to read, because it would have really helped them. Here's a link to my review of AAS after we had used it for a few months, and then links to updates after that.
The phonological awareness skills especially are something that they needed and that I tried to make up on my own by pulling from different resources. I love how pre-reading has them incorporated for the parent. (These are the exercises included in the "Language Exploration" part of each lesson--you can see them in the sample teacher's guide.)
You would want to wait until after AAR 1 to start All About Spelling. HTH some as you decide how to proceed for your little guy! Merry :-)
I have not used the pre-reading level, I've used AAR level 1 and will be using level 2 this fall. I really like the program. It's open and go (after the initial prep, one time 45 minutes or so) and scripted on the teacher end. And there are lots of fun activities for the kids which help keep them engaged. I've used lots of learn to read programs, I have a son who really struggles with reading, and honestly All About Reading is my favorite and the one I will choose to use with my daughter.
